Longest Relationship EVER

LOST was lightning in a bottle. We can't entirely explain what it was, why it worked or what it means to the history of television, but we were absolutely honored to participate in the phenomenon while it lasted.

LOST was, quite simply, the adventure of a lifetime,
and all we can say for that is thank you.

From the Mouth of Babes

(Taylor Swift) In life, you learn lessons... Sometimes you learn them the hard way. Sometimes you learn them too late.

Real life is a funny thing. In real life, saying the right thing at the right moment is beyond crucial. So crucial in fact that most of us start to hesitate for fear of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, but lately what I've begun to fear more than that is letting the moment pass without saying anything. I believe you deserve to look back on your life without this chorus of resounding voices saying, "I could've, but it's too late now."

There's a time for silence. There's a time for waiting your turn. But if you know how you feel, and you so clearly know what you need to say. You'll know it! I don't think you should wait. I think you should SPEAK now.

Twilight Epiphany

Surely it was a good way to die, in the place of someone else, someone you loved. Noble, even. That ought to count for something. I knew that if I'd never come here, I wouldn't be facing death now. But, terrified as I was, I couldn't bring myself to regret the decision. When life offers you a dream so far beyond any of your expectations, it's not reasonable to grieve when it comes to an end. Death is peaceful - easy... but Life is harder. {Bella Swan}

J. Lo Adoration

Let me tell you, there are no words to describe her luminosity. Her skin was at once radiant, warm and somehow translucent. She was literally glowing... And girlfriend was ON. It looked like she was charming everyone around her with that famous coquettish giggle of hers. I could have stared all night. But I didn't. Well, I couldn't; at the suggestion of her bodyguard.

Party to Eternity

'Tis the season... where EVERYONE has reason to be in costume! Whether people celebrate Harvest and dust off their best Bible day get-ups, rock so much Orange that they rival Garfield, or go downright outrageous, I'm a fan. My favorite types of costume bashes are ones that require a bit of thought. This year, I hosted one such festivity: Come dressed as your favorite Dead Celebrity. There was no blood and gore at my party though! We opted for witty decor that included Heaven (white tulle and gold lame), Confession Booth & Purgatory (cozy rooms with candles galore), and "the other place" (where the dance floor and cocktails were served). My co-host and I dressed as Angels and gave tours throughout Eternity. How can you refuse to come when you receive the following invitation... ?

On the eve of Saturday, the 30th of October
An array of famous faces will at 7PM gather

They need not beg for candy with children on the street
Instead, they will drink, dine, and dance... mostly on beat.

YOU are invited, along with several guests if you dare.
Please also bring a delectable snack or beverage to share.

"No costume, No entry" is the theme for the night.
So come dressed as a Celebrity... who has since walked toward the light.

From ashes to ashes and dust to dust,
Famous Hotties we once were, but party on forever - We must!

The Office

If you hate your job and don't want it to define you, get involved in fulfilling activities so that there are other things that do! Meanwhile, if you want your job to be a stepping stone to something greater, you need to realize that you're not going to get promoted by sucking at it.
Don't just make coffee -- make the best darn coffee anybody in the office has ever tasted.
Instead of wasting energy being pissed at your boss, put it toward networking with people at your company, redoing your resume to reflect new skills, learning every single thing you can about your industry, and taking on extra work to prove your dedication.

Friends R Us

I don't trust women who don't have female friends. If a woman says, "I just get along better with guys," it means she wants to pork your boyfriend. No woman is that interested in sports. Correction: No straight women is that interested.

I have plenty of male friends, but I counter them with females. You have to have both, because no guy is going to drive past your ex's house at 3 in the morning to see if there's another car in the driveway. Correction: No straight man will do that.

Stylish Besties

Kate Hudson: Fashion is an expression of one's self. When you wake up in the morning, what do you choose to put on to make you happy? Live spontaneously more often! Rachel, don't get so crazy about your things.

Rachel Zoe: Kate, you are an extraordinary spirit that just kinda laughs your way through life. You are that true Bohemian free-spirited type of person that is a great influence on me! Instead of being a psychotic mental patient perfectionist, I need to remember - "I am who I am."

Kate: So TRUE. Let's put that on a T-shirt!

Shopaholic Ways

When I shop, the world gets better, the world is better. And then it's not anymore, and I need to do it again. Cost and worth are two different things... TRUST is the most valuable commodity.

Just Do It

Life is too short.
Break the rules, forgive quickly.
Kiss slowly, love truly.
Laugh uncontrollably.
And never regret anything that made you smile.
Life may not be the party we hoped for....
But while we're here we should DANCE.

Dating Tip(s)

You're not buying a car. You're not ordering a pizza. People come with damages and flaws. It's about the chemistry! And then finding out if you have the same morals and values. And if you want the same thing in life at the same time. People don't realize that. They think they're ordering every little thing on their Wish List, and God's just going to deliver it to you tomorrow. Not so much!

Reprogram your brain to believe that he is out there. There are a lot of good men still in the world. They are gifts that you've just got to receive. Ask, believe, and receive - - Enjoy the process! Dating is supposed to be fun.

Basically, you go on the date. You look good. You smell good. You smile. You accept the invitation, and you're receptive to it. He's also a guy. He's got different equipment. Remember that too.

- Thus saith Patti Stanger, the Millionaire Matchmaker

Great Gatsby

Katie Finnernan,
2010 Tony Awards winner...

I have so much to be grateful for. With the world being so fast right now, I want to remind you to focus on what you love. It is the greatest passport, the greatest road map to an extraordinarily blissful life.

Just focus on that one thing. Don't listen to anybody else, and you will run into the right people, the right teachers, the right moments and circumstances.

One day, you will meet that person that will share that love with you... My life has never been the same since I met you. Thank you for sharing the love of Theater with me. It's just the light of my life, and I know you feel the same way. I'm just so grateful.

Common Thread

  • There is something miraculous that pushes you along, makes you keep going, makes you carry on. If it's really about the mystery of that. In fact, the whole album is about that in a way: it's about loss but it's also about hope, about keeping going and trying to find that beauty. (Corinne Bailey Rae)

  • Loss is a theme that I think a lot about, and it's something in my work that I dwell on. I think when you experience any kind of loss, especially the kind I did, you have questions about survival: Why do some people thrive in situations that others can't tolerate? Would I be able to survive and get on in the world on my own? (Anderson Cooper)

  • God allows hardship in our life so that our beliefs will become more real to us and less theory. We can start living out our faith-life in the real world. God can be glorified through your weakness. His light and power can shine through the chips, cracks, and cracks in your life, drawing others to Himself. (Greg Laurie)

  • Helplessness becomes prayer the moment that you go to Jesus and speak candidly and confidently with Him about your needs. This is to believe. (O. Hallesby)

  • God is merciful and permits us that anger for a time... He never moves, and He will be there waiting patiently when you have no other choice but to throw your cares on Him in order to go on and then the true healing begins and that wonderful "peace that passes all understanding." (Nora Macy)

  • I guess making things fun is the only revenge you have against mortality. Of course, I think about mortality. So many of my colleagues and friends have died that I'm forced to think about it. What we would all like is to kind of choose when we're ready to go, and we'd not have any fear. The best part about death is that it's not selective. It's comforting to know that everyone dies. Death is the pure democracy. (Dustin Hoffman)

Team Kyle

I miss you more than Michael Bay missed the mark, when he made Pearl Harbor. I miss you more than that movie missed the point, and that's an awful lot, man. And now, now you've gone away. And all I'm trying to say is: Pearl Harbor sucked, and I miss you.

I need you like Ben Affleck needs acting school. He was terrible in that film. I need you like Cuba Gooding needed a bigger part. He's way better than Ben Affleck. And now, all I can think about is your smile, and that crappy movie too! Pearl Harbor sucked, and I miss you.

Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies? I guess Pearl Harbor sucked, just a little bit more than I miss you. [Team America soundtrack]

Feeling the Blues

"So now I'm... doing some real life investigation for new songs. We could almost call it method acting but skip the acting. All I know is that everything in life is a process, and we can't always calculate the result. I'm in a very emotional state right now, trying to process the past crazy years but also trying to figure out where I stand amongst the chaos and how my poor little heart feels in the dark.... Blues blues blues blues, baby." Lykke Li, Swedish indie artist

I feel the same way. June Gloom is coming, with all it's K-Days, memories, and anniversaries. I just need to remember - Don't doubt in the dark what you've seen in the Light!

Medieval Madness

MEDIEVAL TIMES - I went there tonight for the first time to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was a little bizarre... the strangeness reminded me of a Renaissance Fair I went to on a class field trip back in the day. Everyone spoke in phony British accents, dressed in layered garb forgetting to coordinate their hair, and kept claiming that certain etiquette was required in the royal court. Somehow, I could not get past the smell of horses so close to where I was eating. Nor could I adapt to call our server a Wench (at her request). I packed plastic cutlery in my purse, but sucked it up and ate with my hands. Ew.

The actual horse show was entertaining though! Our Blue knight that we were assigned to cheer for was the most handsome of the bunch. There was even a spontaneous dance party at the lounge area afterward that we all got our groove on too. I just doubt that "my people" existed in the Medieval/Renaissance time though. Did everyone forget that Europeans didn't shower then either?

Gifts to Give

There are people with lots of gifts who are sitting on their ASSets. I just wanted to take what I knew to a place that I love... Find your strengths, but most importantly, identify and recognize your pain and brokenness. That's where the fruitfulness is... God has given us a mountain of blessing yet we're sipping it with straws... A great ship is safe in the harbor, but it's not made to do just that.

Sweet Reunion

I fasted from delicious Vino for Lent this year.

It was agony, pure torture, and brought me closer to God as early as the third day of this 40 days and 40 nights season. My wonderful friends: Riesling, Pinot, Malbec, Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot, Muscat, and I were apart for so long.

Today, that withdrawal is officially DONE. I'm drinking pronto. This will be a Good Friday that's for sure!

Marilyn in March

I dressed up as the beautiful Marilyn Monroe for an Old Hollywood murder mystery party recently. As I researched my part, I became a fan of this lovely lady who was often misunderstood, had incredible style, and wit for days longer than she lived. She would have been the tabloids' dream, so here is a list of some of my favorite Marilyn quotes -
  • Dogs never bite me. Just humans.

  • Dreaming about being an actress is more exciting than being one.

  • Hollywood is a place where they'll pay you $1000 for a kiss and 50 cents for your soul.

  • Husbands are chiefly good as lovers when they are betraying their wives.

  • I am not interested in money. I just want to be wonderful.

  • I don't know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot.

  • I don't mind living in a man's world, as long as I can be a woman in it.

  • A career is wonderful, but you can't curl up with it on a cold night.

  • I've been on a calendar, but I've never been on time.

  • No one ever told me I was pretty when I was a little girl. All little girls should be told they're pretty, even if they aren't.

Women Serenade

An oldie but a goodie -
Women are like the apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. The boys don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they get the rotten apples from the ground that aren't as good but easy. So the apples at the top think something is wrong with them when in reality, they are amazing! They have to wait for the right guy to come along. The one who is brave enough to climb to the top of the tree... Therefore, YOU are considered one of the prettiest and most phenomenal women I know.

Blades of Glory

I looooooooooove ice skating!
I don't know what my deal is...
I have been going to every outdoor rink available and near me. They were all over during the Holidays. It reminds me of when I was younger and watched Figure Skating on tv. I would not want to become such a pro athlete anytime soon, but an open rink, all to myself, with no one watching... thrills me. I adore the outerwear and winter accessories in a less competive state. I like getting friends together and daring each other not to fall. I like the speed at which you go and trying out graceful dance moves in flight. It's such a great workout too! Who knew I'd have a knack for it?

Labor of Love

I cannot exist without you. I am forgetful of everything but seeing you again. My life seems to stop there. I see no further. You have absorb'd me. I have a sensation at the present moment as though I were dissolving. I have been astonished that men could die martyrs for religion... I have shudder'd at it... I shudder no more. I could be martyr'd for my religion: Love is my religion. I could die for that. I could die for you. My creed is love, and you are its only tenet. You have ravish'd me away by a power I cannot resist. - Emily Dickinson

Sensual Chocolate

Life is the hot chocolate...
your job, money, and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain life. The cup you have does not define, nor does it change the quality of life you are living. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the hot chocolate God has provided us. Always remember - God brews the hot chocolate; He does not choose the cup.

NYE Do-Over

"I've always thought that New Year's Eve is proof that human beings are essentially optimistic creatures. Despite hundreds of years of pathetic parties and hellish hangovers, we continue to cling to the notion that it's possible to have fun on that night. It's not. There's too much pressure, too many expectations, too.. few bathrooms." - Anderson Cooper

I couldn't agree more! That's why I started hosting a 2nd New Year's Eve celebration. At some point in the middle of January, I get the friends (that I wished were with me at the start of the new year) for a party, dressed up in cocktail attire. Decor is cheap after the original celebration, and food is easier to come by. We can watch the Rocking NYE shows if its still on our dvr. Then, at the time we determine is "midnight" we all count down, watch the ball drop on YouTube, and yell 'Happy New Year' to anyone within earshot. My neighbors must think we're crazy... but sometimes waiting for that special New Year's kiss is worth it.
